Recon Jet Update – 3rd October, 2014
I’m pleased to report that development continues to be favorable on Jet and that the late January to March time window for pre-order shipment is on track. Today, I’d like to update you on our recent technical advancements.
In the August 15 update, I noted that heart rate monitor connectivity had been verified using ANT+. Since then, we have extended ANT+ capability to include cadence and speed sensors and anticipate power will be verified in the next development push. This will complete the ANT+ sensor connectivity suite for cycling and running.
In partnership with RX-Networks, we’ve successfully integrated “assisted GPS” into Jet. This upgrade facilitates much faster GPS time to first fix (TTFF) when Jet is fired up and assures more accurate positioning vs. unassisted GPS. Our testing of the integration has generated excellent results with further refinement potential still possible prior to Jet shipment.
We’ve also added sounds to the user experience design. Now, when you receive a text message or call — or achieve a personal-best performance on a ride — a sound will alert you. The addition of the designed auditory experience frees you to enjoy your activity experience without the need to check the display for prompts.
Chicago and Baltimore Open Houses Next Week
Our Jet Open Houses in Vancouver and Palo Alto were fantastic with north of 70 guests experiencing the latest prototypes. We’ll continue the Open House program with events in Chicago next Monday evening, October 6 and in Baltimore next Tuesday, October 7. If you’d like to attend, please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you on the guest list; we’ll send you the location details in the next few days.
Thank you to everyone for your continued support and enthusiasm for the Jet project.
